Successful Girls' and Boys' Day 2024
Girls repairing a knitting machine and boys sitting at a sewing machine - even today, this is often still unusual.
Girls' and Boys' Day was created to introduce women and men to professions in which they are traditionally underrepresented.
On this day of action, girls and boys can get a taste of various training occupations in which they currently make up less than 40 percent of the workforce.
Ofa Bamberg has been taking part in Girls' and Boys' Day for many years. This year, 13 young people got to know the following professions:
• Textile and fashion seamstress (m/f/x): 3 boys
• Textile production mechanic (m/f/x): 5 girls
• Textile product finisher (m/f/x): 1 girl
• IT specialist (m/f/x): 2 girls
• Warehouse logistics specialist (m/f/x): 2 girls

First there was a short company presentation. In fact, some of the students were already familiar with Ofa Bamberg and its products. During a tour of the company, they were able to see first-hand how much manual work goes into the compression stockings. Afterwards, the young people were able to try out sewing machines and screwdrivers in the different departments themselves, and at the end of the day the boys from the clothing department, for example, were able to take home a self-sewn gym bag as a souvenir.
In the morning, the Lord Mayor and the Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Bamberg paid us a visit to look over the young people's shoulders and ask them about their career aspirations.
After everyone had had a bite to eat during the lunch break, a company rally was on the agenda for the afternoon.
